Job Description

Head of fixed income is responsible for performance of entire fixed income portfolio of the company. Fixed income
portfolio is divided in two segments – 1. Non Unit Linked portfolio also known as Traditional portfolio 2. Unit linked
portfolio which is popularly known as ULIP
The role is divided across managing four broad categories of fixed income portfolio namely Traditional Funds – PAR
and Non PAR, Group funds, Shareholder funds and ULIP funds. Although the underlying theme remains forecasting
the interest rate trajectory, implementation of the same varies across the product types depending upon the
underlying product structure and regulatory constraints.
In Group Variable Income Plans, in addition to taking an underlying view on the expected trend of interest rates, time
dependency of the view has to be arrived upon given the up-front yield guaranty built into the proposed product. This
involves close interaction with the actuarial and the group sales in order to arrive at an expected return profile
depending upon the projected inflows.
Similarly the PAR platform involves a whole new dimension of aligning investments with a view to managing the
expected cash flows as well as taking appropriate risk exposure in case of the estate that the product generates so as
to produce higher risk-adjusted returns and hence product profitability.
Management of Shareholder funds involves liquidity management to meet the day to day expenses of the Company
and generate income for the Shareholders by investing within the Regulations, impacting the profitability
