Job Summary

The Business Development Manager - Plastics Circularity will play a pivotal role in advancing GPR’s plastics circularity business line. The role is responsible for developing strategic partnerships with brands and manufacturers to promote the use of fair trade plastic waste in products and packaging, supporting clients in fulfilling their Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) commitments. The position drives business growth by designing innovative, sustainable solutions, securing revenue opportunities, and building long-term relationships with stakeholders. The role reports to the Bengaluru office and operates in a hybrid work setting.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Business Development: Identify and engage brands, FMCG companies, and manufacturers to develop sustainable plastic waste management solutions.
  • Partnership & Stakeholder Management: Build and nurture long-term relationships with brands, corporations, and other stakeholders to co-create scalable circularity solutions.
  • Product & Service Design: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design and launch innovative products and services utilizing plastic waste streams, integrating waste pickers into the value chain.
  • Revenue & Growth Targets: Drive revenue growth by securing contracts, grants, and funding opportunities while upholding Fair Trade and sustainability standards.
  • Market Research & Insights: Stay abreast of market trends, policies, and innovations in the circular economy, translating insights into actionable business opportunities.
  • Impact & Reporting: Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development, partnership outcomes, and social impact metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or partnership roles, ideally within waste management, sustainability, or circular economy sectors.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Capability to independently prospect and manage a business pipeline to achieve targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance impact-driven goals with commercial success.
  • Deep alignment with GPR’s ethos of empowering marginalized communities and environmental sustainability.
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and adaptability in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) brands or manufacturers.
  • Familiarity with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations and compliance.
  • Exposure to Fair Trade standards or certifications.
  • Multilingual abilities (especially Indian regional languages).
  • Previous involvement in social impact or non-profit initiatives.
  • Project management skills.
  • Data analysis and reporting capabilities.

Experience

  • Minimum Experience: 0 years (freshers with relevant passion and skills are encouraged to apply).
  • Relevant Experience: Business development, sales, partnership management, or similar roles, preferably in sustainability, plastics, waste management, or the circular economy.
