Cloud FinOps Analyst
Job Summary
The Cloud FinOps Analyst is responsible for monitoring and optimizing cloud spending, specifically within the Azure environment. This role involves analyzing cloud infrastructure costs, identifying cost drivers and anomalies, and collaborating with engineering and finance teams to implement cost control and optimization strategies. The analyst will also play a key role in automating cloud cost management processes and delivering comprehensive reporting via dashboards and custom pricing calculators.
Responsibilities
- Assess Central Cloud FinOps Reports and Dashboards to identify cost trends and issues.
- Analyze cloud infrastructure spending on a regular basis to identify cost drivers and report anomalies impacting overall costs.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement recommended cost optimizations.
- Work closely with Stream level Cloud FinOps Champions to execute optimizations and maintain regular FinOps reporting and tracking.
- Identify and develop automation opportunities to enhance efficiency in cost management processes.
- Coordinate with FinOps and Cost Management teams to deliver cloud budgets and reports, presenting key findings to finance and engineering leaders.
- Support internal customers with effective cloud forecasting through the use of customized pricing calculators and proactive identification and mitigation of cost anomalies.
- Maintain standardized FinOps documentation that can be leveraged by the product team.
- Resolve and log queries raised by teams through internal communication channels.
- Leverage knowledge of Control Plane and Data Plane concepts for Azure Cloud onboarding processes.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in optimizing cloud spend across Public Cloud (Azure).
- Proficiency in native cloud cost management tools and third-party platforms (e.g., Apptio/Cloudability, Azure Cost Management).
- Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver clear, well-structured, and relevant information tailored to various audiences.
- Prior experience with technical operations teams, including exposure to DevOps and Cloud Operations.
- Robust analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
- Experience in creating Power BI Dashboards and developing automated optimization workflows.
- Understanding of Control Plane and Data Plane concepts in the context of Azure Cloud onboarding.
Preferred Skills
- Certification such as Azure Certified Cloud Practitioner or FinOps Certified Cloud Practitioner is considered a plus.
Experience
- Prior exposure or hands-on experience working within technical operations, DevOps, or Cloud Operations teams is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in analyzing cloud spend and implementing cost optimization strategies.
