Job Summary
The Sales Officer is responsible for driving primary and secondary sales in the assigned territory. This role focuses on effective distributor management, outlet expansion, product availability, visibility, merchandising, and the execution of company sales strategies. The Sales Officer will work towards achieving sales targets while building strong relationships with distributors and retailers.
Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Drive secondary sales through distributor salesmen and market coverage.
- Increase numeric and weighted distribution in the assigned territory.
- Identify and appoint new retail outlets and distributors where necessary.
- Ensure successful launch and placement of new products.

Distributor Management
- Manage distributor operations to ensure optimum inventory levels.
- Monitor stock availability and minimize stock-outs.
- Support distributors in achieving sales and collection targets.
- Review distributor performance and recommend corrective actions.

Market Execution
- Conduct regular market visits with distributor sales representatives.
- Ensure availability of all Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) across retail outlets.
- Improve product visibility through merchandising and Point of Sale Materials (POSM) deployment.
- Execute trade schemes, consumer promotions, and in-store activations.
- Monitor product freshness and ensure First In, First Out (FIFO) compliance.

Retailer Relationship Management
- Build strong relationships with retailers and key customers.
- Resolve retailer grievances promptly.
- Increase outlet productivity through regular engagement and order generation.

Market Intelligence
- Track competitor activities, pricing, promotions, and new product launches.
- Share market insights and customer feedback with the reporting manager.
- Identify growth opportunities within the assigned territory.

Collections & Reporting
- Maintain Daily Sales Reports (DSR), beat plans, and expense statements.
- Submit sales reports, market feedback, and business updates on time.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate in any discipline.
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) General Trade Sales.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in Confectionery, Bakery, Cake, Foods, or Snacks industry preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of distributor management and retail execution.
- Good communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
- Must possess a valid two-wheeler driving license.
