Job Summary

The Mainframe System Programmer will play a critical role in the administration and support of zSeries systems within a complex, multi-client, multi-vendor environment. The successful candidate will participate in the evolution of the zSeries platform by developing scalable and innovative service offerings that meet customer needs now and into the future.

Responsibilities

  • Install, propagate, maintain, and support z/OS and related software products on centralized zSeries servers.
  • Master tools related to centralized zSeries servers such as JCL, Scheduler, operation, Automation, and Storage.
  • Ensure system performance and monitor the various components.
  • Support daily systems maintenance activities while performing problem determination and resolution.
  • Diagnose complex issues and propose and implement customer-focused solutions.
  • Manage service requests or reported problems, ensuring follow-up until resolution.
  • Create and maintain technical procedures and documentation for solutions.
  • Analyze new needs and service offerings functionally.
  • Develop solutions aimed at improving support processes for clients.
  • Participate in audits and disaster recovery tests.
  • Provide on-call support as scheduled.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or higher.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years relevant experience in IT or related field, with a strong background in mainframe systems.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Excellent knowledge of HLAsm, REXX / CLIST, TSO / ISPF, JCL, SMPE.
    • Functional knowledge of z/OS, JES2 products, Storage management, Monitors, SDSF / IOF, and Security tools (RACF / TSS / ACF2).
    • General knowledge of database products, CICS, IMS, and other mainframe software.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated autonomy, creativity, and proactivity.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.

Experience

  • 6-10 years of minimum experience in IT with a focus on mainframe systems, specifically IBM zSeries (z/OS) platforms.

Environment

  • Work in a collaborative environment supporting rotational shifts (US/Canada) located in Bangalore.
