Job Title: Head – Rewards & Performance
Location: Mumbai (Goregaon East)
Role Overview
The Head – Rewards & Performance will own the end-to-end design and execution of compensation, benefits, performance management, and incentive structures. The role requires strong analytical ability, deep understanding of regulatory-driven compensation frameworks (life insurance), and hands-on execution across HR tech systems, payroll governance, and rewards strategy.
This is a high-ownership IC role with exposure to leadership decision-making and direct impact on scaling HR processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Total Rewards Strategy
- Design and implement compensation and benefits philosophy aligned with business strategy
- Develop competitive and scalable rewards structures for a growing insurance organization
- Benchmark compensation against top insurance and digital insurance players
2. Performance Management
- Own the performance management lifecycle (goal setting, mid-year, annual cycles)
- Design performance frameworks aligned with incentives and business outcomes
- Ensure integration of performance with rewards and variable pay
3. Incentive & Variable Pay Design
- Build and manage sales/branch incentive plans and performance-linked payouts
- Ensure regulatory compliance for life insurance compensation structures
- Drive effectiveness of incentive schemes across roles and regions
4. Payroll & Governance
- Oversee payroll approvals and compensation governance
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in payroll processing and audits
- Manage compliance with statutory and industry regulations
5. HR Technology (SuccessFactors / HR Tech Stack)
- Lead configuration and optimization of SuccessFactors modules (Performance, Compensation, etc.)
- Drive digitization and automation of rewards processes
- Partner with HR Tech teams for system enhancements
6. Policy & Compliance
- Develop global/local compensation policies as required
- Ensure adherence to regulatory norms in life insurance industry
- Support audit and compliance requirements
7. Stakeholder Management
- Partner closely with CHRO, CFO, and business leaders
- Provide insights on compensation trends, cost impact, and workforce planning
- Act as a trusted advisor for rewards-related decisions
8. Team Management
- Guide and develop 1 direct report (supporting rewards operations)
- Collaborate with existing HR ops and C&B team (4 members)
Key Requirements

8–10 years of experience in Compensation & Benefits / Total Rewards

Strong exposure to performance management and incentive design

Experience in life insurance preferred

Strong numerical and analytical skills

Hands-on experience with HR systems (preferably SuccessFactors)

High integrity and ability to manage confidential information

Ability to work in a fast-scaling, high-accountability environment
ExperienceCandidates should have 8-10 years of relevant experience, ideally in life insurance company.
