Job Summary

The AEM Developer Lead will design, develop, and optimize Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)-based solutions, focusing on AEM Sites, Assets, Forms, and AEM Guides for structured DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) content management. This role requires advanced proficiency in AEM’s core frameworks (Sling, OSGi, JCR), components (AEM 6.5 AMS hosted), and integration with enterprise systems. The lead will be responsible for technical implementations, effective code reviews, and collaboration with the development team to deliver performant AEM solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy AEM solutions that meet business requirements, including AEM Sites, Assets, Forms, and AEM Guides for structured content authoring and DITA management.
  • Architect reusable AEM components, templates, and content fragments ensuring modularity and scalability.
  • Implement and customize AEM Guides features and workflows, including DITA specialization, metadata management, DITA-OT integration, and XML-based content authoring for multi-channel publishing.
  • Develop and manage AEM workflows, including custom workflow steps, dynamic participant steps, and process automation for content approval and publishing.
  • Conduct performance optimization and deliver performance-optimized content delivery, optimizing JCR queries, asset renditions, and page rendering for low-latency content delivery.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues such as workflow failures, publishing slowness, integration bottlenecks, ensuring system reliability.

Qualifications

  • Technical Skills:

    • 10+ years of extensive development experience with AEM (AEM 6.x, including AEM 6.5).
    • Advanced proficiency in Apache Sling, OSGi, JCR (Apache Jackrabbit Oak), and where applicable, Java Servlets and JSP.
    • Experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and frameworks like React.
  • AEM Guides:

    • 5+ years implementing AEM Guides specifically for DITA-based content authoring.
    • Proficiency in DITA Open Toolkit (DITA-OT) for output formats and integration with translation services.
  • Web Technologies:

    • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and event-driven integrations.
  • Educational Qualification:

    • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with XML editors (e.g. Oxygen XML Editor) for DITA content creation.
  • Experience with microservices architectures using Spring Boot, Kubernetes, or OpenShift for AEM integrations.
  • Proficiency in using monitoring tools like New Relic, Splunk, and ELK.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years in an AEM development role with significant experience in managing AEM instances and advanced web technologies.
