Job Summary

The AVP – Operations will oversee and manage all aspects of Navata SCS's Transportation Operations business. This role is crucial for driving operational excellence in both Part Truck Load (PTL) and Full Truck Load (FTL) operations, ensuring cost efficiency, service levels, and profitability. The successful candidate will operate at both strategic and execution levels, providing leadership and direction to optimize transportation processes and enhance operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Transportation Operations:

  • Responsible for the overall strategy, planning, and execution of PTL and FTL operations.
  • Drive execution across the transportation lifecycle—including vehicle allocation, dispatch, and delivery.
  • Manage operations across multiple transit modes and locations, ensuring consistent service levels.
  • Implement scalable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance.

• Planning & Network Optimization:

  • Develop efficient multi-point movement strategies for distributed deliveries.
  • Optimize vehicle utilization, routes, and operating costs in collaboration with regional partners.

• Vendor Management & Onboarding:

  • Oversee the entire vendor lifecycle, from evaluation to relationship management.
  • Maintain a strong ecosystem of transportation vendors and ensure alignment with business needs.

• Vendor Credit Cycle & Cost Management:

  • Manage vendor credit cycles and maintain strong payment processes.
  • Drive cost optimization and improve gross margins through effective planning and vendor negotiations.

• Service Levels, Revenue & Profitability:

  • Own key operational SLAs and work on improvements in customer experience and delivery performance.
  • Contribute to gross profit performance through monitoring of cost efficiency and service quality.

• Technology & Data-Driven Operations:

  • Collaborate with technology teams to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Utilize data analytics to drive decision-making and operational improvements.

• Team Leadership & Organisation Building:

  • Lead a geographically distributed operations team and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Coach and mentor team members, setting clear goals and performance standards.

• Customer & Stakeholder Management:

  • Maintain relationships with key customers and ensure operational commitments are met.
  • Act as an escalation point for critical operational issues.

• Expansion & Strategic Initiatives:

  • Support the team in expanding operations into new geographies and transit modes.
  • Assess new market opportunities and ensure effective operational setups.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Experience:
  • 10-15 years of experience in transportation operations, with a focus on PTL/FTL.
  • Proven track record in vendor management, cost control, and operational strategy.
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of transportation planning and logistics management.
  • Familiarity with operational dashboards, KPIs, and analytics.
• Soft Skills:
  • Leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
• Certifications (preferred): Relevant certifications in supply chain or logistics management.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in a high-growth entrepreneurial environment.
• Proficiency in data analytics and automated operational systems.
• Familiarity with geographic expansion strategies in transportation.

Experience

• Minimum of 10 to 15 years in management roles within transportation or supply chain operations, preferably in a scalable environment.

Environment

• Work will primarily be based in Hyderabad with approximately 30-50% travel across different operating geographies.
