Job Summary
The ServiceNow Product Owner will leverage expertise in Java and Python to enhance the ServiceNow platform. This role focuses on defining product vision, managing the backlog, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that the product aligns with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will also oversee the integration and development of services while driving agile methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Product Vision and Strategy: Define and communicate the product vision and roadmap for ServiceNow-based solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and business needs.
- Backlog Management: Own and prioritize the product backlog, translating business requirements into clear, actionable user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, development teams (including Java/Python developers), and other cross-functional teams.
- Requirements Gathering: Collaborate closely with business analysts and users to gather and document detailed requirements for ServiceNow enhancements, integrations, and custom applications.
- Technical Understanding: Maintain a strong understanding of ServiceNow platform capabilities and limitations, as well as associated scripting languages (such as JavaScript).
- Java/Python Integration & Development: Oversee the design and implementation of integrations with external systems using Java or Python-based solutions and guide custom application development leveraging these languages.
- Agile Methodologies: Drive agile ceremonies, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of solutions while enhancing team collaboration.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Collaborate with QA teams to define testing strategies, ensuring solutions meet quality standards.
- Release Management: Plan and oversee the release of new features and functionalities, providing communication and training for end-users.
Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience as a Product Owner or Technical Product Manager, ideally within the IT Service Management (ITSM) domain and with a focus on ServiceNow.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Java and/or Python, especially in system integrations, API development, or custom application development.
- ServiceNow Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the ServiceNow platform, including its modules, functionalities, and development best practices.
- Agile Acumen: Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and experience working in an agile environment.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex problems, make data-driven decisions, and translate technical concepts into business terms.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner, ServiceNow Certifications) are often preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of integration techniques and patterns, particularly within ServiceNow.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and tools that facilitate automation.
