Planning & Scheduling Lead
Job Summary
The Planning & Scheduling Lead is responsible for ensuring efficient machine planning and availability, aligning production schedules with customer requirements, and optimizing resource allocation. This role plays a crucial part in meeting customer timelines while maintaining communication across various departments to facilitate smooth operations and proactive decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate enquiries to efficiently plan machine availability according to customer needs, providing a detailed dispatch schedule based on raw material availability.
- Plan and manage additional operations as required, ensuring all necessary paper stocks are checked and ordered in the correct size and quantity.
- Align paper requirements with customer timelines, ensuring timely delivery and accurate scheduling for machine operations.
- In the case of exports, develop a comprehensive container plan, detailing the number of containers along with respective ex-works and sailing dates.
- Maintain clear communication with the marketing team to understand priorities and adjust production schedules accordingly.
- Produce detailed schedules for machines over a 48-hour period, providing job numbers and specific operational details.
- Prepare thorough reports and dashboards for management, detailing projected tonnages, weekly targets, and production achievements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Strong technical knowledge of production processes and scheduling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with various departments.
- Proficient in project management software and scheduling tools.
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports for performance assessment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Problem-solving skills to navigate production challenges effectively.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in the printing and packaging industry.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems.
- Knowledge of quality control processes and standards.
- Experience in a lead or supervisory role within a production environment.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years in a planning and scheduling role, preferably within a manufacturing or production setting.
- Demonstrated experience in working with cross-functional teams and managing complex schedules.
