Job Summary
The Developer Lead - WebOps - Web Routing & DNS is responsible for leading a technical infrastructure and systems team focused on domain management, network routing, and DNS configurations. The role involves driving excellence in domain mapping, ensuring high network reliability and performance, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize web request routing and configuration management. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of web traffic flow and domain infrastructure within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Set Up and Manage Domain Mapping: Configure and maintain domain mapping systems to link custom domains, subdomains, and short URLs to web applications and Content Delivery Networks (CDNs).
- Manage Network Traffic and Routing: Oversee web request routing to ensure paths are secure, reliable, and optimized for speed across server networks.
- Update Older Configurations: Review and update existing codebases, configuration files, and deployment scripts to align routing setups without disrupting live production systems.
- Keep Documentation Up to Date: Write clear, comprehensive configuration code and technical documentation for team reference and knowledge sharing.
- Troubleshoot Routing Issues: Diagnose and resolve network issues such as DNS propagation delays, SSL/TLS handshake errors, and certificate mismatches, including handling edge cases.
Qualifications
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 10+ years in network engineering or systems administration working with domain infrastructure, with 3-5 years in team leadership, guiding technical initiatives, and mentoring engineers.
- Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of DNS management, including configuring standard records (A, AAAA, CNAME, TXT, MX, NS) and managing domain registrars.
- Understanding of Web Traffic Flow, including core internet protocols (TCP/IP) and request travel from browser to server.
- Familiarity with Site Architecture, microservices, load balancers, reverse proxies, and CDNs.
- Knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS mechanics, request/response headers, redirects, status codes, and web security basics (CORS, HSTS).
