PL/SQL Developer
Job Summary
The PL/SQL Developer will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining database solutions for insurance policy administration systems. This position is responsible for implementing high-performance PL/SQL code, optimizing Oracle databases, and ensuring data integrity and compliance within insurance domain solutions. The developer will collaborate closely with business analysts, QA teams, and other stakeholders to deliver robust systems that support the organization’s operational and regulatory objectives.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain PL/SQL code (procedures, functions, packages, triggers) for insurance policy administration systems.
- Optimize and tune Oracle database performance, including indexing and query optimization.
- Collaborate with business and IT teams to analyze requirements, design ER models, and implement database solutions.
- Ensure compliance with insurance industry standards (e.g., Solvency II, IFRS 17) and data governance policies.
- Support the complete policy lifecycle including claims, underwriting, and billing functionalities.
- Participate in code reviews, system testing, and provide production support for policy administration applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Strong proficiency in PL/SQL, including procedures, functions, packages, and triggers.
- Advanced knowledge of Oracle Database architecture, indexing strategies, and optimization techniques.
- Experience with SQL and Oracle development tools (e.g., SQL*Plus, TOAD, SQL Developer).
- Familiarity with database design concepts and ER modeling.
- In-depth understanding of insurance policy administration systems and industry terminology.
- Awareness of regulatory compliance standards relevant to insurance (e.g., Solvency II, IFRS 17).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with additional programming languages (e.g., Java, Python).
- Hands-on experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working within Agile teams.
- Prior experience developing and maintaining policy administration applications within the insurance sector.
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a PL/SQL Developer, ideally within the insurance domain.
- Proven track record in developing, optimizing, and maintaining database solutions for policy administration systems.
