Job Summary

The SDE 2 – Backend Engineer will design, build, and own reliable backend systems across various workflows, including lending, customer, partner, telematics, collections, and internal operations. This role is crucial in supporting the organization’s goals of scaling its electric vehicle financing business.

Responsibilities

• Own backend modules, APIs, database design, integrations, and ensure production reliability for assigned systems.
• Develop services across loan journeys, customer workflows, partner integrations, telematics, collections, and internal tools.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to backend engineering best practices.
• Design and build backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, REST APIs, and relational databases.
• Collaborate in design reviews, code reviews, sprint planning, and architecture discussions.
• Debug production issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term fixes.

Qualifications

• Technical Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java 8+, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, REST APIs, and relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), clean code practices, modular design, database design, API security, Git, and backend fundamentals such as HTTP/HTTPS, CORS, caching, and asynchronous processing.
  • Ability to debug backend issues and deliver reliable, production-ready solutions.

• Communication Skills:

  • Strong ability to communicate clearly with engineering, product, business, and operations teams.
  • Proficiency in writing technical documentation, API documentation, implementation plans, and root-cause summaries.

• Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Capacity to break down ambiguous problems into clear technical components and propose practical, scalable solutions.

• Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent practical backend engineering experience.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in fintech, lending, non-banking financial company (NBFC) systems, SaaS, mobility/EV, logistics, or workflow-heavy platforms.

Experience

• 3 to 6 years of relevant backend engineering experience.

Environment

• This position is full-time and on-roll, based in Bangalore, Karnataka. The work setting is a professional office environment within Vidyut Tech’s premises.
