Job Summary
The Senior Director/Director of Corporate Quality will spearhead the development and execution of the company's overall quality strategy across the entire product lifecycle. This role is pivotal in establishing a culture of preventive quality, ensuring consistent quality standards across multiple cross-functional teams, and driving product excellence from design to customer experience. The incumbent will work independently, reporting directly to the founders, and will be responsible for reducing product failures, enhancing field reliability, strengthening supplier quality, and institutionalizing world-class quality systems organization-wide.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the organization’s Corporate Quality strategy and establish Quality Governance across all product-related functions.
- Act as the final authority on product quality decisions, driving Quality Reviews with senior leadership and fostering a "Quality First" culture.
- Collaborate with R&D to ensure design for quality, reliability, and manufacturability, including Design Verification, Failure Analysis, Product Risk Assessment, Design Change Management, and Product Qualification.
- Lead supplier quality initiatives covering supplier selection, qualification, audits, incoming quality systems, vendor capability assessment, and corrective actions to reduce defects and improve process capability.
- Work with manufacturing teams to ensure robust production quality systems, including Process Quality, Assembly Quality, Process Capability, In-process Quality, End-of-Line Testing, and Quality Gates.
- Establish systems for monitoring product performance post-installation, including Field Failure Analysis, Warranty Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Reliability Growth Programs.
- Oversee Customer Quality metrics such as Complaint Reduction, Installation Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Warranty Cost Reduction, and Escalation Management.
- Develop and institutionalize enterprise quality systems including Quality Audits, SOP Standardization, Process Documentation, Internal Audits, Management Reviews, and Continuous Improvement Systems.
Qualifications
- Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, Industrial, or Production Engineering.
- Certifications: Quality certifications such as CQE (Certified Quality Engineer), ASQ (American Society for Quality), or Lead Auditor certifications are advantageous.
- Experience: 15–20 years of progressive Quality Leadership experience, including:
- Supplier Quality Management
- Manufacturing Quality
- Product Quality
- Exposure to New Product Development (NPD) quality processes
- Proven track record in enterprise-wide quality transformation
- Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders without direct reporting lines
- Strong understanding of quality systems in fast-growing manufacturing or product companies
Technical Skills
- Deep knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Expertise in Design Verification, Failure Analysis, and Product Qualification
- Proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies
- Supplier and vendor quality assessment and improvement
- Root Cause Analysis and Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA)
