Job Summary

5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on Drupal development.

Deep knowledge of Drupal core and contributed modules, theming, and configuration management.

Strong PHP skills with Composer, plus experience with frameworks such as Laravel or Lumen.

Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, authentication protocols (OAuth2, SAML), and external service integrations.

Familiarity with database systems (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and caching/performance optimisation.

Extensive experience with cloud operations in AWS and/or Azure, including hosting, scaling, monitoring and logging (CloudWatch, New Relic), with a strong focus on security, reliability and performance optimisation.

Proficiency with frontend technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, React) and accessibility standards.

Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, security scanning, and Git-based workflows.

Support experience in structured environments (SLAs, Jira, troubleshooting in live environments).

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of Drupal site building: content types, taxonomies, views, blocks, theming, configuration management, and upgrades.

Develop custom modules/components, ensuring code is clean, maintainable, and scalable.

Provide support for live Drupal projects, handling SLAs, troubleshooting issues, and applying security best practices.

Build backend services and middleware with PHP (Composer workflows, Laravel/Lumen) and integrate external APIs/services.

Optimise performance with database tuning, caching strategies, and CDN integration.

Contribute to frontend development with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and React, ensuring accessibility (WCAG compliance).

Design, implement and manage structured DevOps environments using CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), containerisation, and cloud hosting platforms (AWS and Azure), ensuring secure, scalable and resilient deployments.

Monitor and maintain applications using Grafana, CloudWatch, Azure App Insights and similar tooling.

Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Managers and other developers to scope, design and deliver projects.

Stay up to date with emerging technologies and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
