Job Summary
The Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) for Industrial Materials will play a pivotal role in building and scaling a new business vertical from the ground up. With autonomy and ownership akin to that of a founder, the EIR will leverage existing infrastructure and market access to create a high-growth, profitable business within the industrial materials sector.
Responsibilities
- Build New Business Verticals (0-to-1): Identify and evaluate new opportunities within industrial materials; conduct market research; develop and execute go-to-market strategies; launch and scale new product categories.
- Build Market Liquidity: Travel extensively across industrial hubs in India; develop relationships with manufacturers, importers, traders, distributors, and large buyers; onboard strategic suppliers and customers.
- Own Business Performance: Take ownership of the vertical's P&L; monitor revenue, margins, and profitability; build scalable operating processes; drive the business from pilot stage to high-growth execution.
- Negotiate Partnerships: Identify and develop new industrial material categories; negotiate commercial agreements with suppliers and strategic partners; develop pricing, sourcing, and distribution strategies.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with operations, logistics, finance, and technology teams; analyze market trends, competition, pricing, and demand dynamics; build repeatable business processes for long-term scale.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a founder, co-founder, business head, or CXO preferred.
- Strong experience in B2B trading, industrial distribution, commodity markets, or industrial e-commerce.
- In-depth understanding of sectors such as Chemicals, Paper, Coal, Polymers, Petrochemicals, Metals, or related industrial products.
- Exceptional commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Highly analytical and commercially driven with a business ownership mindset.
- Strong relationship-building and problem-solving capabilities.
- Willingness to travel extensively across India.
