Job Summary

The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at Exotel is responsible for administering and optimizing the cloud infrastructure environment. This role involves coordinating with a group of engineers to manage user access, compute resources, observability tools, and scaling infrastructure to meet organizational requirements and ensure high availability.

Responsibilities

  • Administer cloud infrastructure, including user access (IAM), Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), and compute resources such as EC2, EBS, and Route53.
  • Utilize observability tools including Grafana, Kibana, and manage CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and ArgoCD.
  • Participate in infrastructure scaling activities, supporting provisioning for both scale-up and scale-down operations.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams for upgrades and deployments, ensuring patching and updates are communicated effectively.
  • Monitor existing deployments to ensure SLAs (Service Level Agreements) are consistently met and engage in weekly on-call DRI (Designated Responsible Individual) rotations.
  • Innovate to optimize distributed systems by addressing performance challenges, resulting in improved response times and higher platform uptime.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of computer and distributed systems.
  • Proven coordination, planning, and tracking skills.
  • Effective communication skills with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and Kubernetes (k8s).
  • Proficient in Amazon Web Services (AWS) offerings such as EC2, EBS, IAM, Route53, S3, and CloudWatch.
  • Practical experience maintaining and administering Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Experience with DevOps pipelines, particularly utilizing Jenkins.
  • Knowledge of observability and logging tools such as Grafana, Kibana, and the ELK stack.
  • Experience in maintaining and supporting production systems.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with shell scripting (Bash) and Python.
  • Experience working with databases including MySQL, Elasticsearch, and MongoDB, as well as message queues such as Kafka and Beanstalk.
