Job Summary

The Production/Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire production process at the Chakan Plant to ensure the efficient, timely, and high-quality delivery of products. This role involves strategic planning, coordination across departments, and continuous process improvement to meet organizational goals. The manager will lead a team, manage resources, control costs, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Production Planning and Management: Develop and implement production schedules aligned with company objectives, ensuring optimal utilization of manpower, materials, and equipment.
  • Operational Excellence: Monitor and evaluate manufacturing processes for efficiency, quality compliance, and implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of production supervisors and staff, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.
  • Quality Control: Ensure adherence to quality standards, resolve production quality issues, and collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to maintain certifications.
  • Health and Safety: Enforce safety regulations, conduct regular safety audits, and organize training sessions to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Budget and Cost Control: Manage production budgets, control costs, minimize wastage, and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or timelines.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with supply chain, procurement, maintenance teams, and senior management to align production goals with overall company strategy.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Prepare and present reports on production metrics, challenges, and achievements, utilizing data analysis for process optimization.
  • Cost Estimation: Analyze project requirements, review technical documents, and develop comprehensive cost estimates, proposals, and budgets.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Coordinate with project managers, suppliers, and vendors to ensure alignment of designs, budgets, and procurement.
  • Project Analysis and Feasibility: Conduct feasibility studies, evaluate risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Optimization and Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving opportunities, propose alternative materials or processes, and optimize project outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years in manufacturing/production roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Hands-on experience with industry-specific machinery.
    • Proficiency in ERP systems, especially SAP.
    • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
    • Skilled in production management software and tools.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in project management and cost estimation.
