Job Summary

The Head of Engineering will serve as the Site lead for the Bengaluru development team, overseeing the building and management of the engineering team. This position requires a hands-on leader with strong communication skills and a solid background in software engineering, particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) areas. The ideal candidate will help guide engineers, ensure collaboration between teams across different time zones, and drive delivery on projects focused on Generative AI applications.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison with Product Managers and Engineering Leadership in San Francisco and New York to ensure effective communication and the surfacing of challenges.
• Recruit engineers through collaboration with Agency recruiters in India and Galileo recruiters in the US.
• Foster strong team bonding and cohesiveness among team members in a hybrid working environment.
• Be available for on-call support needs in collaboration with US-based Platform and Product engineers.
• Focus on execution and ensure developer velocity remains a priority.
• Guide engineering teams in design, architecture, and codebase details to assist in overcoming technical challenges.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering Management within the software domain, preferably in both medium to large-scale organizations and early-stage startups.
• Hands-on experience with the ability to dive into design and codebase intricacies to support engineers.
• A broad skillset to manage engineers across various domains, including UI Engineering, DevOps, Backend Engineering, AI Engineering, and Customer Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Machine Learning (ML) or Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions.
• Experience in building or leading teams focused on AI-first applications is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to bridge teams across different time zones.

Preferred Skills

• A genuine curiosity about AI and enthusiasm for developing solutions in the Generative AI space.
• Previous engineering experience in related fields.

Experience

At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering Management.

Environment

The role will be based in Bengaluru with a hybrid working environment. It requires collaboration with teams in different geographic locations, necessitating some overlap with the Pacific time zone.
