Assistant Manager

Job Summary

The Assistant Manager will play a key role in providing tax and regulatory advisory services related to Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and corporate restructuring. This position requires a strong understanding of corporate tax, exchange control regulations, SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) regulations, and stamp duty regulations. The role involves coaching junior team members, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work, building client relationships, and supporting senior team members on business development initiatives. The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for risk management compliance and reviewing the work of junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tax and regulatory advice on M&A transactions and corporate restructuring.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, including Corporate Tax, Exchange Control (FEMA), SEBI, and stamp duty regulations.
  • Coach and develop junior team members in M&A Tax, restructuring, and corporate tax concepts.
  • Deliver high-quality engagement work within agreed timelines.
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships, demonstrating a clear understanding of client requirements and business context.
  • Assist senior team members with prospective client pursuits and business development.
  • Supervise and review work completed by junior team members, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to risk management procedures within all engagements.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Effective client relationship management.
  • Commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience working in a regulatory environment.
  • Exposure to corporate tax, corporate law, FEMA, and SEBI regulations is an advantage.
  • FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act) Certification preferred.
  • Minimum educational qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA).

Preferred Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A).
  • Additional certifications in regulatory compliance or tax advisory.
  • Experience with Private Equity (PE) tax strategies.
  • Advanced skills in risk management.
  • Experience in client-facing advisory roles.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in direct tax advisory, with a focus on M&A.
  • Preferred: 3-5 years of experience in direct tax advisory, M&A tax, and regulatory advisory services.
