Position Title: Deputy General Manager – Operations<br />
Department: Manufacturing Operations<br />
Location: Saswad Plant, Pune<br />
Company: Food Service India Pvt. Ltd. (FSIPL)<br />
Role Purpose<br />
The role is responsible for leading and managing end-to-end operations at FSIPL’s Saswad facility. The incumbent will ensure manufacturing excellence, cost efficiency, product quality, food safety, and compliance while developing team capability and aligning operations to the company’s growth and efficiency improvement plans.<br />
Educational Qualification<br />
• B.Tech / M.Tech in Food Technology / Chemical / Mechanical Engineering<br />
• Preferred Certifications: ISO Internal Auditor, HACCP, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), TPM, Lean Manufacturing<br />
Experience<br />
• 15–20 years of experience in food manufacturing / food service / processed food industry<br />
• Strong exposure to manufacturing of sauces, gravies, marinades, condiments, canned food, and base preparations<br />
• Proven experience in leading large teams and delivering cost, quality, and operational excellence<br />
Key Responsibilities<br />
1. Operational Excellence<br />
1. Maintain complete control over operating costs and unit KPIs, including:<br />
I. Process losses of Raw Material (RM), Packing Material (PM), inks & solvents<br />
II. Capacity Utilisation<br />
III. Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE)<br />
IV. Productivity<br />
V. On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) Delivery<br />
VI. Operating Cost Efficiency<br />
2. Control material consumption and monitor abnormal variances of materials at all stocking points.<br />
3. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce process losses, enhance capacity utilization, and improve efficiency.<br />
2. CAPEX Planning & Execution<br />
• Plan, implement, and monitor CAPEX projects to ensure timely completion within approved budgets and performance benchmarks.<br />
• Oversee project documentation, validation, and successful handover for operational use.<br />
3. Functional & Team Management<br />
Manage, control, and train teams in the following functional areas:<br />
• Stores & Inventory Management – RM, PM, Finished Goods, Engineering Spares, Consumables, Miscellaneous Items<br />
• Plant & Facility Maintenance – Preventive and corrective maintenance systems<br />
• Production Execution – Schedule adherence, resource optimization, and process control<br />
• 5S, GMP, GHP, GWP Implementation – Hygiene, workplace organization, and best practices<br />
• Quality Control – Batch testing, process checks, and consistency<br />
• Food Safety – Compliance with FSSAI and internal FSIPL standards<br />
• EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) – Workplace safety, audits, and environmental compliance<br />
• Production Planning & Inventory Control (PPIC) – Coordination of production schedules and raw material availability<br />
• Plant Administrative Processes & Procedures – Documentation, SOPs, and operational discipline<br />
• HR Processes – Manpower planning, performance management, and employee engagement<br />
• Plant Financial Control & MIS Generation – Tracking of costs, variances, and operational metrics<br />
• Audit & Review Systems – Maintain objective records, conduct audits, and ensure implementation of improvement actions<br />
• Organizational Alignment – Support FSIPL’s growth plan, operational efficiency goals, and strategic priorities through collaboration and execution<br />
4. People Development<br />
• Design and implement structured development programs for reporting managers and key team members.<br />
• Promote a high-performance culture through regular reviews, coaching, and capability building.<br />
5. Industrial Relations & Statutory Compliance<br />
• Maintain sound industrial relations and a conducive work environment.<br />
• Ensure effective liaison with government authorities and external agencies.<br />
• Ensure completeness and validity of all Establishment Licenses, consents, and permissions as per statutory requirements.<br />
Key Technical Expertise<br />
• Strong understanding of food manufacturing operations involving sauces, gravies, condiments, and ready-to-use base preparations<br />
• Experience in filling, packaging, and sealing lines (pouches, jars, and cans)<br />
• Knowledge of food safety systems, HACCP, GMP, GHP, and product traceability<br />
• Proficiency in using SAP / ERP systems and data-based performance analysis (MIS)<br />
• Exposure to OEE improvement, yield enhancement, cost optimization, and capacity utilization<br />
