Lead AI & Data Scientist

Job Summary

We are seeking a sharp Lead AI & Data Scientist with 2–3 years of experience who operates at the intersection of data, business intelligence, and applied artificial intelligence (AI). In this role, you will take ownership of how the company collects, understands, and acts on data, while building an AI stack that allows a lean team to maximize its impact.

Responsibilities

  • Data & Business Intelligence:

    • Design and build the data architecture to consolidate sales, marketing, supply chain, and finance data into one clean source of truth.
    • Create dashboards that the leadership team utilizes daily for tracking q-commerce sales, funnel metrics, contribution margins, and inventory health.
    • Implement automated reporting systems to eliminate the need for manual exports of CSVs.
    • Analyze raw platform data to inform decisions regarding stock, marketing pushes, and operational fixes.
  • AI Stack for Content:

    • Develop and manage an AI-powered content engine for product imagery, ad creatives, copy variants, and video concepts at unprecedented volume and speed.
    • Set up automated workflows using tools such as Claude and relevant image/video generation models.
    • Establish quality control measures to ensure the AI outputs maintain brand consistency.
  • AI-Powered Business Intelligence & Workflows:

    • Construct internal AI tools that can answer business questions in plain language.
    • Automate repetitive workflows across departments using low-code/no-code solutions.
    • Identify opportunities for AI to significantly reduce decision-making times.
  • AI for Performance Marketing:

    • Create AI systems to enhance performance marketing initiatives such as automated creative generation and campaign analysis.
    • Provide the growth team with trustworthy data pipelines and comprehensive reporting.
    • Develop the measurement and automation infrastructure necessary for the growth team to execute campaigns efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2–3 years as a Data Scientist, Data Analytics Engineer, or Machine Learning Engineer; experience in startup environments or Direct to Consumer (D2C) / Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) is advantageous.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in SQL (non-negotiable).
    • Experience with Python.
    • Familiarity with at least one Business Intelligence (BI) tool (e.g., Metabase, Power BI, Looker).
  • AI Workflows: Proven experience in shipping AI workflows involving LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and automation tools such as n8n, Zapier, or Make.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to handle end-to-end project ownership from raw data to functional tools and dashboards.
  • Communication Skills: Capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to q-commerce seller platforms and related data ecosystems.
  • Experience in developing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, custom GPTs, or internal AI copilots.
  • Background in marketing analytics or attribution frameworks.
  • Previous experience in FMCG, food, or consumer brands.
