Job Summary

The AWS DevOps Engineer will be responsible for overseeing production systems on Amazon Web Services (AWS), ensuring high availability, and managing monitoring tools. The role plays a vital part in maintaining uptime and availability for applications, while also collaborating with cross-functional teams to support problem management and continuous integration processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor overall application availability, latency, and system health.
  • Determine alert standards for production environments and implement them.
  • Develop and manage configuration scripts for Amazon-hosted infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with the development team and management to ensure high availability.
  • Support teams for alarms and outages on an as-needed basis.
  • Administer monitoring tools in the Application Performance Management (APM) space, including Dynatrace or Datadog.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams for problem management and escalate issues as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience running production systems on AWS; 6+ years of overall relevant experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Mandatory: Harness, Terraform
    • Preferred: Dynatrace or Datadog
    • Strong understanding of Serverless architecture and CloudFormation/Terraform.
    • Familiarity with configuration management software.
    • Experience in automated build pipeline and continuous integration.
    • Knowledge of source control, branching, merging (e.g., Git, SVN).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, suitable for interacting with various levels of employees and management.
    • Integrity and trustworthiness; ability to present truthful information in a respectful manner.
    • Teamwork and collaboration; willingness to complete assignments and contribute positively to discussions.
    • Technical expertise and a commitment to staying current with technical developments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with EKS Node and Cluster management.
  • Understanding of AWS best practices for EC2, EKS, and container monitoring.
  • Knowledge of systems, networks, and troubleshooting techniques.

Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years of overall experience in relevant fields, with at least 3 years specifically focused on AWS production systems.
