Job Summary

The R&D Engineer will drive innovation by researching, developing, and enhancing cutting-edge product features for Quantum’s data management solutions. As part of an independent, high-performing team, you will both guide and execute the development of new capabilities, leveraging both established and emerging technologies. Your efforts will directly contribute to maintaining Quantum’s leadership in the global data management and storage market.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance product functionality across Quantum’s portfolio.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve issues in both new and existing products.
  • Research and prototype new product features using programming languages such as C or C++.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and components.
  • Work within an Agile environment to deliver iterative, high-quality results.
  • Communicate technical details and project status to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in software development using C/C++ or equivalent languages.
  • Proficiency with Linux administration and development.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in both in-office and remote team settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, identify and solve complex problems.
  • Effective collaborator with experience integrating diverse components and technologies.
  • Creative, analytical problem-solver committed to continuous improvement.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with containers and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Linux I/O subsystem and networking.
  • Knowledge of storage protocols, clustering design, and development.
  • Exposure to AI tools or programming.
  • Experience with GIT for version control.
  • Exposure to JIRA for project tracking and management.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting both software and hardware issues on Linux systems.

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in software development, with a mandate in storage protocols, Linux administration, or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience with C/C++ programming is essential.
  • Experience in collaborative, cross-functional development environments.

Environment

  • Location: Bangalore (in-office; remote collaboration skills required).
  • Typical setting: Agile, fast-paced R&D team environment.
  • May require periodic coordination with global teams across multiple time zones.
