Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled PostgreSQL Database Administrator / Subject Matter Expert (SME) with 5–7 years of experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving replication issues, analyzing infrastructure, and implementing long-term solutions for high availability and scalability in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve replication issues between primary and backup PostgreSQL databases in production.
• Analyze existing PostgreSQL deployment on IBM infrastructure with VMware virtualization and identify areas of improvement.
• Design, propose, and implement robust solutions to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability of database systems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to provide expert recommendations and database optimization strategies.
• Ensure adherence to best practices for PostgreSQL administration, security, performance tuning, and replication.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to the internal team on PostgreSQL best practices.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA / SME.
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL replication (logical, streaming, and high-availability setups).
• Proven experience troubleshooting and resolving production-grade PostgreSQL issues.
• Familiarity with IBM infrastructure and VMware-based virtualization environments.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with additional database management systems.
• Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions.
• Awareness of security best practices for database systems.

Experience

• 5–7 years in a PostgreSQL DBA / SME role, focusing on troubleshooting, replication, and high-availability setups.
