Job Summary
The Validation Engineer will play a critical role in creating and executing platform and IP validation test plans for both pre-silicon and post-silicon environments. This position involves qualifying all features supported by silicon and ensuring robust functionality through thorough testing.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute platform and IP validation test plans for both pre-silicon and post-silicon environments.
- Take complete ownership of enabling and validating different Intellectual Properties (IPs).
- Interface and collaborate with cross-functional teams including IP/Silicon Design, Signal Integrity, Firmware (FW), Basic Input/Output System (BIOS), and Quality Assurance (QA).
- Conduct validation for Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) features including DDR Error Correction Code (ECC), Ethernet IPs, and PCIe interfaces.
- Validate interfaces and storage technologies such as I2S, I2C, USB, PCIe, UART, SATA, SSD, and Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe).
- Perform debugging of interfaces using test equipment like logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of industry experience in hardware validation and debugging.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of platform/board design concepts including schematics and layouts.
- Hands-on experience with lab tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, analyzers, and performing basic rework.
- Familiarity with validation for RAS, various high-speed and low-speed peripherals, and technologies related to graphics and display.
- Proficiency in writing scripts using Python, Ruby, or Perl.
- Experienced in SOC (System on Chip) and platform bring-up with debugging capabilities for bring-up failures.
Preferred Skills
- Strong interaction and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in debugging high-speed memories including LPDDR3, DDR4, LPDDR4 and peripherals like USB 2.0/3.0, eMMC, M.2, SATA, NVMe, and Gigabit Ethernet.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in hardware validation and system debugging is preferred.
