Job Summary

The Data Modeler will be responsible for designing and implementing effective data models with a focus on reporting and analytics. This role will directly contribute to the organization's ability to convert business requirements into actionable insights and scalable data products.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement dimensional, star, and snowflake schemas tailored for reporting and analytics use cases.
  • Translate business requirements into canonical Gold-layer datasets with standardized definitions.
  • Ensure scalability, performance optimization, and query efficiency in data models.
  • Define and enforce best practices in data modeling including naming conventions, metadata, lineage, and governance.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Analysts, Business Intelligence (BI) developers, and Product Owners to ensure alignment of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and usability of datasets.
  • Develop enterprise-wide data products to enable self-service analytics and consistent reporting.
  • Apply data quality, partitioning, and optimization strategies in Databricks and Delta Lake environments.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, data dictionaries, and model diagrams for stakeholder consumption.
  • Mentor junior data engineers and modelers while promoting knowledge sharing within the team.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of technical experience in data modeling, preferably within Retail, Stock, or Master Data domains.
  • Strong expertise in Data Vault 2.0, Dimensional Modeling, Star Schema, and both Kimball and Inmon methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL for model development, optimization, and validation.
  • Practical experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, and cloud-native data architectures.
  • Expertise in designing enterprise data warehouses, marts, and Gold-layer datasets.
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Qlik, along with their integration with modeled datasets.
  • Proven ability to create enterprise data products that enable analytics at scale.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with advanced data quality frameworks and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance standards.
