Job Description

Job Title: Chief Financial Officer Role: This is a leadership position in the K – 12 education sector for South Asia and Middle East. The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for leading all administrative, financial, and risk management operations in line with Company’s strategies. The position is accountable to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. Principal accountabilities are: Planning 1. Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives 2. Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans 3. Develop financial and tax strategies 4. Manage the capital request and budgeting processes 5. Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction Operations 1. Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team 2. Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team 3. Manage the accounting, people cost, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury departments 4. Oversee the financial operations of company 5. Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced 6. Oversee the company's transaction processing systems 7. Implement operational best practices 8. Oversee employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package 9. Supervise acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitions Financial Information 1. Oversee the issuance of financial information 2. Personally review and approve all filings with the ROC and Tax authorities 3. Report financial results to the board of directors Risk Management 1. Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile 2. Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the company 3. Construct and monitor reliable control systems 4. Maintain appropriate insurance coverage 5. Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements 6. Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies 7. Report risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors8. Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations Funding 1. Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts 2. Arrange for debt and equity financing 3. Invest funds 4. Invest pension funds Third Parties 1. Participate in conference calls with the investment community 2. Maintain banking relationships 3. Represent the company with investment bankers and investors Legal 1. Oversight of contracts and compliance 2. Relationship with attorneys Qualifications and experience:  Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in the K-12 publishing industry or FMCG or Pharma  Corporate and startup experience preferred  Chartered Accountant with Master's degree in accounting or business administration in Finance from a reputed college/university Skills/Knowledge:  Excellent written and verbal communication skills  Excellent leadership and management skills  Excellent attention to detail  Understanding of quality management principles  Experience in working with global, regional and local teams and stakeholders  A proactive and flexible approach to work with a strong work ethic  Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage work to adhere to critical project timelines  Ability to inspire teams towards leveraging each team member’s potential in organization building Other relevant traits:  Creativity  Be able to keep calm and make quick, clear decisions while coping with pressure  Ability to function as a team player in a meshed corporate global environment  A problem-solving ‘Can Do’ mindsetKrishnan:  Numbers are accurate  Controls - Longer timeframe with milestone  Processes – Longer timeframe with milestone  Reporting - Immediate Head of Sales Recruitment Head of HR School Mitra – interface with LR CTO to do due diligence – think of it as hiring a CTO
