Job Summary
The Head – Quality will lead the overall quality strategy and implementation for Paper products (Mailer Bags) and Flexible Packaging operations. This role encompasses various processes including Compounding, Blown Film Extrusion, Printing, Lamination, and Conversion. The Head of Quality ensures that all products meet stringent customer specifications, regulatory norms, sustainability standards (biodegradable/compostable compliance), and documentation while driving continuous improvement across processes, systems, and human resources.
Responsibilities

Quality Strategy & Leadership
- Define and implement quality policies, systems, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across all packaging verticals.
- Develop and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BRC, and GMP certifications and ensure audit readiness.
- Drive a zero-defect manufacturing culture through process control, preventive systems, root-cause analysis, and comprehensive documentation.

Quality Assurance – Flexible Packaging
- Oversee raw material inspection, in-process quality, and finished product testing for:
- Compounding: resin formulation accuracy, moisture, dispersion, and melt index consistency.
- Blown Film: thickness uniformity, optical clarity, COF, sealability, barrier performance (OTR/WVTR).
- Printing & Lamination: adhesion, registration accuracy, bond strength, solvent retention, and heat seal strength.
- Conversion: bag sealing integrity, dimensional accuracy, and overall appearance.
- Collaborate with Research and Development (R&D) on new formulations and ensure lab-to-line performance validation.
- Oversee raw material inspection, in-process quality, and finished product testing for:

Quality Assurance – Paper products (Mailer Bags)
- Define testing protocols for paper GSM, tensile, burst, Cobb value, and seal strength.
- Standardize glue, heat seal, and ultrasonic bonding quality checks.
- Oversee incoming paper roll inspection and final bag Quality Control (QC).

Compliance & Certification
- Ensure all materials and finished goods comply with FSSAI, CPCB, TUV Austria (OK Compost Home/Industrial), and other environmental regulations.
- Manage documentation, traceability, and test reports for both domestic and export customers.

Customer Quality Management
- Interface with key clients to understand specifications and lead corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes.
- Conduct customer audits, respond to non-conformance reports (NCRs), and ensure closure with validation.
- Implement Supplier Quality Management (SQM) and Vendor Rating systems.

Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Deploy Statistical Process Control (SPC), Six Sigma, 8D, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) methodologies to reduce rejections and optimize line yields.
- Partner with Production and R&D teams to scale up trials and new product validations.
- Lead digital transformation in Quality Assurance – integrate inline sensors, ERP/QMS tools, and automated reporting dashboards.

People Development
- Build and mentor a strong QA/QC team with training in standards (ASTM, IS, TAPPI, ISO).
- Promote a quality-first culture through cross-functional training, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) adherence, and accountability.
Qualifications
- Education: B.Tech / M.Tech in Polymer Science, Packaging Technology, Paper Technology, or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience: 10–15 years in Quality function within the Flexible Packaging and/or Paper Packaging industry.
- Must have hands-on experience with film extrusion, lamination, printing, and bag conversion.
- Prior exposure to biodegradable/compostable packaging preferred.
- Leadership Roles: Proven ability to manage large teams for training and process implementation.
- Certifications: Six Sigma / ISO Lead Auditor / Quality Systems preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to home compostable and biodegradable materials (PBAT, PLA, starch-based films).
- Knowledge of food-contact packaging standards and migration testing.
- Experience with the integration of automation and digital Quality Assurance systems.
Experience
- Minimum 10–15 years in Quality Assurance and Control within the Flexible Packaging and Paper Packaging industry.
Environment
- The role is based in Bangalore, typically in an office or manufacturing setting with a focus on quality management practices.
