IT Configuration Management Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced IT Configuration Management Specialist to manage and enhance the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) using ServiceNow and Flexera. In this role, you will ensure data integrity, support IT asset lifecycle processes, and drive CMDB integration and automation initiatives in alignment with ITIL best practices. Your efforts will help maintain an accurate representation of our IT infrastructure and streamline asset management across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance the CMDB in ServiceNow to accurately reflect IT infrastructure and business services.
• Design and implement discovery processes and data integrations between ServiceNow and third-party tools (e.g., Flexera, SCCM).
• Leverage Flexera to manage and reconcile software and hardware asset data, ensuring accurate license compliance.
• Support Configuration Management governance by defining and enforcing standards, controls, and procedures.
• Collaborate with IT and business teams to identify configuration item (CI) relationships and dependencies.
• Regularly audit and analyze CMDB data to ensure completeness, accuracy, and relevance.
• Develop and maintain CMDB dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Participate in ServiceNow CMDB module upgrades and Flexera integration enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (BTech, BSc, or equivalent).
• Strong experience working with ServiceNow CMDB and Flexera.
• Familiarity with ITIL best practices and configuration management processes.
• Proven ability to design and implement discovery processes and data integrations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Superior communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Hands-on experience in IT asset lifecycle management and configuration governance.

Preferred Skills

• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS-CMDB) certification.
• Experience with additional ITAM/SAM tools such as Snow Software, Tanium, or SCCM.
• Working knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their asset management implications.
• Exposure to security and compliance frameworks related to asset and configuration management.

Experience

• Proven experience in IT configuration management, specifically with CMDB development and governance.
• Prior experience managing integrations between ServiceNow and third-party tools.
• Demonstrated ability to support IT asset lifecycle processes in a dynamic environment.
