Manager – Credit Policy (Digital Lending)

Job Summary
As Manager – Credit Policy (Digital Lending), you will own the end-to-end credit policy framework for app-based unsecured lending. Your role will involve designing automated underwriting strategies, defining policy rules, and collaborating with various teams to build scalable digital lending solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and continuously refine digital credit policies, underwriting rules, eligibility criteria, and approval strategies.
- Own the end-to-end digital underwriting journey including onboarding, Know Your Customer (KYC), bureau assessment, fraud checks, banking and alternate data assessment, and automated decisioning.
- Translate credit policies into rule engines and Loan Origination System (LOS) workflows to maximize straight-through processing (STP).
- Partner with Analytics to build and improve scorecards, affordability models, customer segmentation, and champion-challenger strategies.
- Monitor portfolio performance, including approval rates, delinquency trends, vintages, fraud, roll rates, and profitability, recommending timely policy interventions.
- Develop fraud prevention controls for synthetic identities, device risk, account takeover, income manipulation, and mule accounts.
- Collaborate with Product and Technology teams on new product launches, policy experiments, and customer journey enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Digital Lending Guidelines, KYC/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements, and internal governance standards.
- Maintain comprehensive policy documentation and conduct regular policy training.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of experience in digital unsecured lending, credit policy, or underwriting strategy.
- Experience in fintechs, digital NBFCs, or app-based lending businesses preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automated decision engines, LOS, bureau data, Account Aggregator, banking analytics, and alternate data.
- Excellent analytical, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements specific to digital lending.
- Experience with data analytics tools and programming languages.
Experience
- 5 to 8 years of experience in digital unsecured lending, credit policy, or underwriting strategy, preferably in fintech or app-based lending environments.
