Job Summary

The API Management Lead will play a crucial role in the development, operations, and promotion of Amadeus Services, facilitating interactions with both internal and external entities. This position is essential in supporting the digital transformation initiatives and enhancing Amadeus digital channels through API management. The role requires excellent leadership and technical skills to optimize API platform usage and ensure a high level of service delivery across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Mission-Critical Architecture Leadership: Lead the design and architecture of a highly available, scalable, and secure API Gateway platform.
• Performance Optimization & Scaling: Drive performance tuning, capacity planning, and scaling strategies for systems, addressing bottlenecks and ensuring robust stability.
• Automated Security & Operations (DevSecOps): Implement automated security controls and testing within CI/CD pipelines to maintain secure deployment practices.
• Financial Accountability (FinOps): Monitor and optimize cloud resource utilization and costs related to the infrastructure for high-traffic applications.
• Hands-on Development & Code Review: Act as a technical contributor, conducting in-depth code reviews and providing expert guidance on coding standards.
• Polyglot Programming & Integration: Utilize and promote proficiency in multiple programming languages for cross-service integration and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years in software engineering, with significant expertise in developing and maintaining mission-critical applications in high availability and low latency environments.
• Technical Expertise:
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js frameworks (e.g., Express.js, NestJS).
  • Professional experience in additional programming languages such as Python or Java.
  • Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), focusing on security configurations and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
  • Extensive experience designing RESTful/GraphQL APIs with strong authentication and authorization mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Leadership & Mindset: Proactive and analytical mindset with exceptional communication skills suitable for conveying complex technical risks.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Redis for caching and session management.
• Knowledge of API Gateway architecture for scalability and security, including traffic management techniques.
• Familiarity with Service Mesh Technologies, such as Istio or Envoy.
• Exposure to Generative AI tooling for enhancing productivity or improving code quality/security.
