Sr. Manager Costing & Estimation

Job Summary

The Sr. Manager Costing & Estimation is responsible for leading the costing and estimation functions within the organization. This role involves overseeing the development and implementation of accurate cost models, ensuring precise project estimates, and supporting strategic decision-making to optimize profitability and resource allocation. The position plays a critical role in driving financial discipline and cost efficiency across projects and operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the costing and estimation team to deliver accurate and timely cost estimates for projects and products.
• Develop, maintain, and improve costing methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance estimation accuracy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, and finance to gather data and validate cost assumptions.
• Analyze historical cost data and market trends to forecast costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Provide detailed cost analysis and reports to senior management to support budgeting and strategic planning.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards in all costing and estimation activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Strong expertise in cost accounting, financial analysis, and project estimation techniques.
• Proficiency in costing software and tools, as well as Microsoft Excel and other data analysis applications.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of industry-specific costing standards and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with ERP systems and advanced costing modules.
• Certification in Cost Estimation or Project Management (e.g., PMP, CCE).
• Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
• Experience in a manufacturing, construction, or engineering environment.

Experience

• Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in costing, estimation, or financial analysis roles.
• Proven track record of managing teams and delivering complex cost estimation projects.
• Experience working in cross-functional and matrixed organizational structures.

Environment

• Typically office-based with potential for hybrid or remote work depending on company policy.
• Collaborative work environment requiring coordination with multiple departments.
• May involve occasional travel to project sites or vendor locations.
