HR Lead – Lal Sweets

Company Overview

Lal Sweets is one of Karnataka’s most beloved traditional sweets and snacks brands, known for its authentic taste, quality, and consistency. With a strong retail and distribution network across the state, Lal Sweets has grown to an organization of 600+ employees and a revenue base of ₹200 crore — with an ambitious goal to scale to ₹1000 crore in the next 4–5 years. The company operates two manufacturing plants in Bangalore and is rapidly expanding to meet growing consumer demand.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced HR Lead who will drive the people agenda at Lal Sweets by integrating strategic business partnering with hands-on HR operations. This role requires the ideal candidate to have substantial exposure to corporate as well as plant HR environments, a strong grasp of local labor laws and compliance, and the capability to closely collaborate with promoters and business heads to align HR initiatives with organizational growth objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic HR & Business Partnering: Act as a strategic HR partner to the promoter and leadership team, aligning people strategy with business goals, while driving organizational growth through effective workforce and succession planning.
  • Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding: Lead the hiring process across corporate and plant roles with agility and quality, build a strong local talent pipeline, and enhance the company's employer brand through community engagement and employee advocacy.
  • HR Operations & Compliance: Oversee payroll, statutory compliance, and HR operations, ensuring 100% adherence to labor laws and factory regulations, and liaise with government departments as required.
  • Employee Engagement & Culture Building: Champion a people-first culture, drive employee engagement programs and grievance redressal initiatives, and develop policies that enhance employee experience while aligning with business needs.
  • Learning & Development: Identify capability gaps and implement training interventions, supporting leadership development and skill enhancement at corporate and plant levels.
  • Performance & Rewards: Implement performance management systems that drive accountability and results, review compensation structures for internal equity and market competitiveness.

Qualifications

  • Education: MBA / PGDM in Human Resources or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience: 7–10 years of progressive HR experience with exposure to both corporate and plant HR environments.
  • Industry Preference: Experience in FMCG, food processing, manufacturing, or consumer goods sectors.
  • Strong business partnering skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with leadership.
  • Fluent in Kannada (mandatory) and English; capable of engaging across workforce levels.
  • Hands-on experience with statutory compliance, local labor laws, and industrial relations.
  • Proven ability to scale HR processes in a growing organization.
  • A talent acquisition (TA) mindset with strong execution capabilities and data orientation.
  • High energy, agility, and a “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with employee engagement strategies and culture-building initiatives.
  • A strong understanding of performance management systems and compensation structures.

Experience

7–10 years of relevant experience in HR, particularly in both corporate and plant environments within the FMCG or food manufacturing industries.

Environment

This is an on-site role based in Bangalore, Karnataka, with weekly travel to manufacturing plants. The work setting is dynamic, focused on fast growth, and requires an individual comfortable with a promoter-driven setup.
