QA Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented QA Engineer with robust experience in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), Business Intelligence (BI), and Data Testing. This role is critical for validating data pipelines, ETL processes, and BI dashboards to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and performance. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with data engineers, BI developers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data and reporting solutions that meet organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts specifically for ETL workflows and BI dashboards.
• Perform end-to-end data validation, including source-to-target mapping, transformation rules, and business logic validation.
• Test ETL jobs developed using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and IBM DataStage.
• Validate Tableau dashboards and BI reports for data accuracy, performance, and visualization correctness.
• Develop and execute complex SQL queries to ensure data integrity across multiple systems.
• Conduct data reconciliation, profiling, and quality checks within data warehouse and reporting environments.
• Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and business analysts to identify and resolve data quality issues.
• Document test results, track defects, and provide clear QA metrics to stakeholders.
• Support the automation of BI/ETL testing processes where feasible.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years of experience in ETL, BI, or Data Warehouse testing.
• Strong hands-on experience with ETL tools such as SSIS and IBM DataStage.
• Proficient in working with Tableau BI dashboards and validating reports and data visualizations.
• Expertise in SQL for data validation, reconciliation, and crafting complex queries.
• Comprehensive understanding of data warehouse concepts, data modeling, and BI processes.
• Experience testing source-to-target mappings (STTM) and transformation logic.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Relevant educational qualifications may include a degree in Computer Science or related fields.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with additional BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Business Objects).
• Experience in ETL/BI testing automation frameworks like QuerySurge, Informatica DVO, and Selenium + DB.
• Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in QA testing for ETL and BI systems, with a preference for candidates with up to 8 years of experience.
