Job Summary

The Manager – Mechatronics will lead a team responsible for turning requirements from New Product Development (NPD) and Process Engineering into commissioned, documented, working machines and instruments. This role is critical in integrating various engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Translate NPD design briefs into designed, built, and commissioned machines, grinding fixtures, brazing jigs, and testing equipment.
• Translate Process Engineering improvement requests into upgraded SPMs, grinding fixtures, polishing setups, and measurement stations to support Grinding Operators and Polishers.
• Lead a 4-person specialist team comprising Mechanical Engineers, Electrical & Controls Engineers, Computer Vision Engineers, and Software & Machine Coding Engineers as an integrated build unit.
• Establish repeatable processes for requirement intake, project planning, vendor management, and equipment documentation.
• Manage fabrication/build projects, including machining, welding, assembly, surface treatment, and electrical panel building with external vendors.
• Commission equipment and provide complete documentation including BOM, drawings, SOPs, calibration records, and risk assessments.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
• 10 – 15+ years of relevant industry experience with demonstrated end-to-end SPM/precision machine design and build work.
• Minimum 3 years of direct team leadership experience.
• Deep hands-on ownership of Mechanical design-and-build.
• Working knowledge of Electrical, Controls, and Software engineering principles.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on PLC/SCADA/HMI programming or troubleshooting.
• Experience with robotics for pick-and-place or vision-guided automation.
• Proficiency in scripting/programming (e.g., Python, embedded C, or PLC ladder logic).
• Background in vibration/acoustic measurement and laser machine integration.
• Knowledge of diamond/CBN tool manufacturing and surface metrology techniques.

Experience

• Minimum 10 – 15 years of experience in a relevant industry with a focus on custom machine building and precision instruments.
• At least 3 years in direct people management.

Environment

The position is based in Surat, Gujarat, requiring essential shop-floor presence to lead the team effectively.
