Job Summary

The Data Modeler will be responsible for designing and implementing high-quality data models that support reporting and analytics use cases. This role is critical in translating business requirements into standardized datasets, ensuring optimal performance and scalability across the organization's data infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement dimensional, star, and snowflake schemas tailored for reporting and analytics.
  • Translate business requirements into canonical Gold-layer datasets with standardized definitions.
  • Ensure scalability, performance optimization, and query efficiency in data models.
  • Define and enforce data modeling best practices, including naming conventions, metadata, lineage, and governance.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Analysts, Business Intelligence (BI) developers, and Product Owners to ensure alignment on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and usability of datasets.
  • Develop enterprise-wide data products to facilitate self-service analytics and consistent reporting.
  • Apply data quality, partitioning, and optimization strategies in Databricks/Delta Lake environments.
  • Maintain documentation, data dictionaries, and model diagrams for stakeholder consumption.
  • Mentor junior data engineers and modelers, promoting knowledge sharing within the team.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in Data Modeling (preferably within Retail, Stock, or Master Data domains).
  • Proficiency in Data Vault 2.0, Dimensional Modeling, Star Schema, and Kimball and Inmon methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL for model development, optimization, and validation.
  • Practical experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, and cloud-native data architectures.
  • Experience designing enterprise data warehouses, marts, and Gold-layer datasets.
  • Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Qlik and their integration with modeled datasets.
  • Proven ability to create enterprise data products that support analytics at scale.
  • Educational qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (BSc, MSc preferred).

Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of data governance frameworks and practices.
  • Experience with data quality tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and project management tools.

Experience

  • Minimum of 8+ years of technical experience in data modeling and related fields.
