SAP BASIS Consultant – ECC to SoH Migration (DB2 to AWS Cloud)

Job Summary

We are seeking a technically proficient SAP BASIS Consultant to lead the migration of SAP ECC systems running on DB2 to Suite on HANA (SoH) hosted on AWS Cloud. The role demands hands-on experience with SUM DMO (System Move), HANA administration, and high availability (HA) setup across both database and SAP layers. Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and DB2 source systems is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Migration Execution

  • Run Maintenance Planner with customers to validate system readiness and generate stack files.
  • Download and manage SAP media required for ECC to SoH migration.
  • Execute SUM DMO with System Move for large DB2-based ECC systems, targeting AWS-hosted HANA.
  • Perform DMO dry runs, optimize migration parameters, and manage downtime planning.
  • Troubleshoot SUM DMO errors using logs (SAPup, SAPinst, DMO) and kernel-level diagnostics.
  • Collaborate with AWS infrastructure teams for EC2 sizing, EBS volume provisioning, and network setup.

• Database & Platform Expertise

  • Provide part-time DB2 expertise for source system analysis, export tuning, and performance validation.
  • Administer HANA DB on AWS, including memory sizing, persistence layer tuning, and lifecycle operations.
  • Set up HANA System Replication (HSR) for HA at the database layer using synchronous replication.
  • Configure ACSC/ERS for HA at the SAP application layer, ensuring failover readiness.
  • Implement AWS-native HA components (e.g., Elastic Load Balancer, Auto Recovery) where applicable.

• Post-Migration Stabilization

  • Validate system health post-cutover using EarlyWatch, SICK, and DBACOCKPIT.
  • Document migration steps, rollback plans, and lessons learned.
  • Support post-go-live performance tuning and interface validation (RFCs, IDocs, Web Services).

Qualifications

• 10+ years of SAP BASIS experience, with 2+ full-cycle ECC to SoH migrations.
• Strong hands-on experience with SUM DMO (System Move) and HANA DB administration.
• Working knowledge of DB2 database (export/import, monitoring, backup strategies).
• Experience deploying SAP workloads on AWS Cloud, including EC2, EBS, and VPC configurations.
• Proven ability to configure HSR and ACSC/ERS for high availability.
• Familiarity with SAP sizing tools, stack updates, and kernel patching.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, DB, and SAP layers.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

• SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP HANA or BASIS.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or higher.
• Experience with Solution Manager for monitoring and change control.
• Exposure to hybrid landscapes (on-prem to cloud transitions).

Experience

8–12 years of relevant experience in SAP BASIS, particularly in migrations and cloud environments.
