Job Summary

The WebSphere Application Server Specialist is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of WebSphere Liberty and WebSphere Application Server environments. This role involves ensuring high availability and optimal performance of applications while implementing corporate policies and security measures. The specialist will also provide on-call support and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Set up and manage WebSphere Liberty installation, including planning, installation, and configuration.
• Create and configure Java Virtual Machines (JVMs) and application settings within the WebSphere Liberty profile.
• Manage JDBC Providers, Data sources, and JAAS authentication aliases for database connectivity.
• Troubleshoot and analyze issues with WebSphere Liberty and applications, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
• Deploy new applications on WebSphere Liberty and maintain security settings in compliance with corporate policies.
• Monitor system performance and manage software installations and configurations for WebSphere environments.

Qualifications

• Technical Skills:
  • Experience with WebSphere Liberty, Application Server Base, and Network Deployment (WAS ND).
  • Familiarity with WebSphere MQ, IBM HTTP Server, IIS, and Apache server.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP network protocols and load balancers.
  • Proficiency in analyzing heap issues and garbage collection using IBM tools.
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in both team and individual settings.
• Educational Requirements:
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with the configuration of WebSphere plug-ins.
• Experience with troubleshooting WebSphere Application Server in a cross-functional environment.
• Strong documentation skills relating to procedures and policies for escalation and outage resolution.

Experience

• Relevant experience with WebSphere Liberty and Application Server on multiple platforms.
• Professional experience in a role involving installation and configuration of WebSphere environments.
• Willingness to provide 24/7 on-call support.
