Job Summary

The Sr. Database Administrator/Specialist will play a key role in managing and maintaining an organization's database systems. This position is crucial for ensuring data availability, security, and performance, ultimately supporting the organization’s operational and strategic goals.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain database systems to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
• Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise, applying optimizations where necessary.
• Perform regular backups and data recovery operations to safeguard organizational data.
• Develop and implement database policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data integrity and efficient access.
• Collaborate with development teams to facilitate database-related tasks for new application features and system enhancements.
• Stay up-to-date with new database technologies and trends, making recommendations for improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
• Proficiency in database backup and recovery procedures.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
• Familiarity with database security and auditing practices.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
• Knowledge of database design and architecture.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell).
• Previous experience with NoSQL databases.
