Mainframe Ops
Job Summary
The Mainframe Ops role is critical for ensuring the stability and availability of production operating systems. This position involves monitoring, managing, and executing recovery procedures for mainframe systems, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the organization's IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Manage production operating system resource availability.
- Perform production operating system Initial Program Load (IPL) and reboot processes.
- Monitor production operating systems and associated devices.
- Conduct root cause analysis, resolution, and escalation for production systems (excluding business applications).
- Execute recovery procedures for production operating systems and devices.
- Execute and respond to console commands.
- Ensure that operational procedures are implemented and adhered to.
- Take predefined recovery actions for various operational events.
- Restart failing components following an outage.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of mainframe operating systems and batch monitoring.
- Proficiency in executing recovery procedures and root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with console command execution and monitoring tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
- Relevant certifications in mainframe operations or systems management are preferred.
- Educational qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mainframe operations or a related field.
Environment
- This position is hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote and in-office work. The work environment is typically fast-paced and requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Salary
- Estimated salary range: 3,500,000.
