Role Overview
We are hiring a finance leader to spearhead revenue controllership and drive commercial excellence across our rapidly expanding footprint. This role is ideal for a strategic and hands-on finance professional with a strong foundation in commercial finance, revenue recognition, and INDAS 116.
Key Responsibilities of a Revenue Controller
1. Revenue Recognition & Receivable / Payable management
- Ensure revenue is recognized accurately and in accordance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., Ind AS 115 / Ind AS 116, IFRS 15).
- Lead revenue controllership for a portfolio spanning 150+ landlords and 300+ enterprise clients
- Review customer contracts and assess the revenue impact.
- Align recognition with billing schedules, delivery milestones, or performance obligations.
2. Contract Review & Commercial Support
- Work with sales, legal, and business teams to structure deals.
- Validate commercial terms (e.g., discounts, escalations, termination clauses).
- Flag revenue risks or opportunities arising from contract terms.
3. Billing & Invoicing Oversight
- Supervise end-to-end billing operations for clients or landlords.
- Ensure invoices are timely, accurate, and comply with contractual terms.
- Address billing disputes and coordinate resolutions with internal teams.
4. Lease & Rent Accounting (e.g., Ind AS 116)
- Manage accounting for leases (especially relevant in real estate-heavy businesses).
- Maintain lease schedules, rent escalations, amortizations, and ROU assets/liabilities.
- Work with landlords to reconcile lease terms and cost components.
5. Revenue Controls & Governance
- Establish internal controls over revenue-related processes.
- Ensure segregation of duties, audit trails, and documentation.
- Prepare for internal and statutory audits; resolve revenue-related audit queries.
6. R2R Process Ownership (Record-to-Report)
- Drive monthly/quarterly revenue close processes.
- Prepare revenue-related journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis.
- Coordinate with shared services or accounting teams to ensure timely closure.
7. Reporting & Analysis
- Provide revenue insights and dashboards to management.
- Track deferred revenue, accrued income, and AR ageing.
- Support management in forecasting and budgeting revenue streams.
8. Systems & Automation
- Leverage ERP systems (Oracle ,Fusion) for revenue and billing.
- Support automation of billing, recognition processes & rent roll management.
- Participate in system enhancements or rollouts related to revenue.
9. Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with Sales, Operations, Legal, Customer Experience, and Treasury.
- Support due diligence processes for fundraises or audits.
- Address queries from clients, landlords, or auditors.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- CA with 7–10 years of relevant finance experience, preferably from a large FMCG, real estate, or services company
- Proven expertise in INDAS 116, revenue recognition, and lease accounting
- Solid experience in commercial finance and managing client/landlord billing ecosystems
- Strong exposure to R2R processes, controls, and financial reporting
- Prior experience in leading a team; ability to work cross-functionally
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills
