Head of Biotechnology
Bengaluru
This role will have primary focus on spearheading New Product Development. We're seeking a dynamic individual who thrives in a hands-on environment, blending agility with a growth-oriented mindset. This role demands adept collaboration with cross-functional teams, the ability to innovate from the ground up, and skilfully leverage insights from scientific experts.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead product identification and complete end to end R&D
- Provide regular progress reports to the CEO, managing timelines and budget
- Champion pilot trials and product development, ensuring commercial feasibility
- Manage technology transfer from R&D to Pilot to final Fermentation, ensuring product specification / parameters are met
- Oversee technology optimization to enable cost efficient process / product
- Manage expenditure budgets and ensure project completion within budgets
- Expertise in Biotransformation, Fermentation and Downstream purification of proteins, enzymes and small molecules
- Strain Engineering/directed evolution/synthetic biology expertise
Qualification:
- PhD in Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Molecular Biology
Personal Qualifications:
- Experience in a biotech/startup environments, comfortable operating within small, dynamic teams.
- Possesses strong analytical skills, adept at swiftly gathering pertinent information and tackling complexity with a problem-solving mindset.
- Demonstrates exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, effectively conveying strategies and outcomes to diverse audiences.
- Exhibits independence and proactivity, adept at identifying and resolving challenges autonomously while also seeking assistance when needed.
- Capable of strategic thinking while executing on key objectives.
- Proven ability to solve problems effectively and meet ambitious timelines.
- Self-motivated and entrepreneurial, thriving in rapidly evolving environments where structures and processes are still evolving or being redefined.
- Mentoring skills to employees across age / experience profiles
