Senior Development Manager
Job Summary
The Senior Development Manager is responsible for managing the analysis, programming, and testing activities for system and software application development. This role includes feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, and the establishment and implementation of new or revised software applications or systems. The Senior Development Manager will oversee a team of approximately 8+ members, ensuring effective development, implementation, and compliance with organizational and client standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a highly technical team supporting application system development, production support, and testing on a day-to-day basis.
- Manage day-to-day work and projects of a team supporting mainframe, distributed, or other application system development and testing.
- Track and act upon work progress, reviewing and auditing the technical work of team members.
- Manage resource allocation within the team and provide input into divisional plans and budgets.
- Understand client needs and communicate effectively with technical and business teams to support project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with development processes and corporate and regulatory standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the team by managing recommendations for enhancements.
- Provide technical guidance to systems and customer requirements, assisting team members with technical issues.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited university; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Technical Skills:
- Java development expertise
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Google Cloud Platform)
- Proficiency in Java microservices and Spring Boot
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and delivery management
- Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent communication skills (both technical and business)
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Ability to foster positive relationships across teams
Preferred Skills
- Experience with compliance and governance procedures in application development.
- Familiarity with change control processes and zero defect system development.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in software development and team management, with demonstrated success in leading technical teams.
Environment
- This position is based in Pune and may require collaboration with other teams and stakeholders, possibly involving client interactions.
