Job Summary
As the Communications Infrastructure Engineer, you will own the communications backbone of our platform, establishing the connection between our AI agents and major messaging channels. This role requires you to focus on infrastructure ownership rather than integration work, making critical decisions regarding provider failures, message delivery, and scalability across channels.
Responsibilities
- Own the reliability and uptime of all channel integrations end-to-end.
- Design and maintain the webhook infrastructure that routes messages across all communication channels.
- Manage the voice infrastructure, including inbound and outbound calling pipelines.
- Act as the on-call owner for communication layer incidents.
- Drive architectural decisions on message delivery, retry logic, and cross-channel routing.
- Collaborate closely with the AI team to connect agent outputs to real-world channels.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of backend engineering experience.
- Production experience with messaging APIs or communications infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of webhook reliability, idempotency, and asynchronous systems.
- Experience with queue-based architectures.
- Comfortable debugging live production incidents related to third-party APIs.
- Proficient in TypeScript/Node.js or Python (Django/Flask).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with voice infrastructure, particularly VoIP or SIP.
- Familiarity with multi-tenant Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms.
Experience
- A minimum of 4 years of backend engineering experience with a focus on communications infrastructure.
