Job Summary

The Data Architect will be responsible for the technical design and configuration of Microsoft Purview, focusing on metadata management, classification, and implementation planning for foundational data governance. This role involves close collaboration with Data Services, governance analysts, and client stakeholders to ensure that the data architecture is scalable and aligned with governance goals.

Responsibilities

• Design metadata and classification frameworks to support data governance initiatives.
• Configure Microsoft Purview, including scans, glossaries, collections, and role-based access controls (RBAC).
• Lead the integration of Azure SQL Managed Instance with Purview for efficient metadata ingestion and data lineage tracking.
• Define technical strategies for applying sensitivity labels, data classification, and Microsoft Information Protection (MIP).
• Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to validate metadata quality and enforce relevant business rules.
• Provide input for the long-term roadmap and implementation plan for enterprise data governance.
• Document configurations, architecture diagrams, and technical workflows to ensure clarity and continuity.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview.
• Proficiency in Azure SQL, data cataloging, and metadata management.
• Experience in data architecture, classification, lineage, and sensitivity labeling.
• Familiarity with RBAC, MIP, and data loss prevention (DLP) policy configuration.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Prior experience in setting up governance tools in non-production environments.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and sprint-based project delivery.
