Job Summary
The GT/MT Sales Manager will be responsible for executing and scaling the brand’s offline distribution model across General Trade (GT) and Modern Trade (MT) segments, as well as regional fitness and sports chains. This role will involve managing primary and secondary sales, ensuring efficient trade spend, and maintaining high fill rates for the offline channel, thereby contributing to the organization's growth and market presence.
Responsibilities
- Channel Execution: Develop and implement city-wise and channel-wise go-to-market plans, prioritizing channels based on ROI and category fit.
- Distributor Network: Identify, appoint, and manage super stockists and distributors in priority states while negotiating terms to ensure beneficial ROI.
- MT Listings: Drive account management for modern trade, including executing Joint Business Plans (JBPs), visibility deals, and conducting quarterly reviews with chain buyers.
- Field Sales: Recruit, manage, and set performance targets for Area Sales Managers (ASMs) and field sales representatives, ensuring a hands-on approach in the market.
- Trade Marketing: Collaborate with marketing teams on below-the-line (BTL) promotions, in-store visibility, sampling activities, and consumer offers while tracking ROI.
- Forecasting: Provide accurate offline demand forecasts over a three-month rolling period to optimize supply chain operations and maintain a fill rate above 95%.
- Reporting: Conduct regular sales reviews encompassing primary, secondary, distributor stock, range selling, and trade spend analysis.
Qualifications
- 5-8 years of experience in FMCG, Direct-to-Consumer (D2C), or sports consumer goods offline sales.
- Proven expertise in appointing distributors and securing modern trade listings.
- Direct field experience in General Trade (GT) and Modern Trade (MT) within India is essential.
- Existing distributor relationships in metropolitan and tier-1 cities are a significant advantage.
- A background in fitness, nutrition, sports, or premium yet value-for-money consumer categories is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, particularly with numbers related to ROI, working capital cycles, and margin calculations.
- Comfort with being the first offline hire in a lean structure without an existing playbook.
