Job Summary
The Finance Manager/Assistant Finance Manager will own the full spectrum of financial operations — from day-to-day bookkeeping and statutory compliance to delivering meaningful Management Information System (MIS) insights that support Board-level decision-making. This role combines hands-on accounting with strategic finance partnership, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely filings, and informed leadership decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Own all accounting operations end-to-end — General Ledger (GL), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Accounts Payable (AP) — using Zoho Books.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant recording of all revenue, expenses, assets, and liabilities.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements — Profit & Loss (P&L), Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements for internal stakeholders.
- Review and process employee expense reimbursements in line with company policy.
- Handle month-end and year-end journal entries including prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and statutory provisions (gratuity, leave encashment).
- Lead the month-end closing process, including accruals, adjustments, reconciliations, and preparation of the detailed Monthly MIS reports for Board review.
- Track SKU-wise and customer-wise profitability and margins.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles in collaboration with department heads; conduct variance analysis against budgets, forecasts, and actuals with clear commentary.
- Monitor cash flow and optimise working capital, including preparation of weekly cash flow forecasts.
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing — from initial inputs to net pay — ensuring tax compliance, correct accounting entries, and monthly GL reconciliations.
- Stay current on payroll regulations and statutory requirements; implement changes proactively.
- Handle all statutory compliance, including PF, Professional Tax, GST, and Income Tax.
- Manage the statutory (Company Law) audit, income tax audit, transfer pricing audit, and GST audit, ensuring timely closure of all observations.
Qualifications
- Strong command of bookkeeping, financial reporting, and MIS preparation.
- Proficiency in Zoho Books or equivalent accounting/ERP platforms.
- Deep working knowledge of Indian statutory compliance: GST, TDS, PF, PT, and corporate income tax.
- Hands-on experience across all four audit types: statutory, income tax, transfer pricing, and GST audits.
- Strong analytical and communication skills — able to present complex financial data to non-finance stakeholders clearly.
- Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to meet tight month-end and statutory filing deadlines consistently.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, covering bookkeeping, statutory compliance, and management reporting.
- Education: CA qualification is a strong plus; MBA (Finance) is welcomed.
