Job Summary

The Backend Developer will be responsible for designing and building scalable web applications that power our dynamic sports technology platform. You will play a pivotal role in optimizing database performance, deploying cloud applications, and ensuring seamless integration of microservices and background job processes. This role contributes directly to our mission of enhancing user engagement and connecting sports venues with recreational players.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize scalable web applications using Ruby on Rails.
• Design and manage PostgreSQL database schemas, perform query optimizations, and ensure high performance.
• Deploy and manage applications on AWS services including ECS, RDS, and S3.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Pulumi for efficient cloud resource management.
• Design robust RESTful APIs and support the development of a microservices architecture.
• Implement and maintain background job processing (using ActiveJob or similar frameworks) and conduct unit testing to ensure application reliability.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years experience building scalable web applications with Ruby on Rails.
• Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL database design, optimization, and query performance.
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on AWS (ECS, RDS, S3).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using Pulumi.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
• Experience with background job processing frameworks such as ActiveJob or similar.
• Familiarity with unit testing frameworks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• An interest in sports and innovative technology solutions in the recreational sports market.

Experience

• A minimum of 4-5 years of relevant professional experience in web application development with Ruby on Rails.
• Demonstrated experience working with cloud deployment and infrastructure as code is highly desirable.

Environment

• Primary location: Mumbai, Maharashtra.
• The role is designed for an in-office setting, where collaborative teamwork and close coordination with design and product teams are key.
