Job Summary
The Founding AI Reverse Engineer role offers a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of AI, healthcare, interoperability, and systems engineering. The successful candidate will work autonomously across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to analyze, deconstruct, and improve complex AI systems and healthcare data integrations. This position is ideal for a highly skilled professional eager to shape the future of AI-driven healthcare solutions through innovative problem-solving and system exploration.
Responsibilities
- Reverse-engineer AI systems to analyze model behavior, agent architectures, prompts, tool use, orchestration, and system-level workflows.
- Understand and enhance LLM-powered applications, multi-agent systems, and AI-native architectures.
- Deconstruct complex APIs, integrations, EHR workflows, and healthcare data exchanges.
- Work with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR, HL7, X12/EDI, SMART on FHIR, OAuth2, and other modern patterns.
- Build prototypes, tooling, scripts, and production systems to translate findings into scalable capabilities.
- Explore MCP, contextual API orchestration, semantic adapters, schema translation, and agent-to-system interactions.
- Solve complex integration challenges across EHRs, telephony, scheduling, claims, and patient engagement platforms.
- Collaborate directly with customers to understand real-world workflows and partner with Product and Engineering teams to develop internal tooling and product features.
Qualifications
- Strong software engineering fundamentals with excellent Python skills.
- Deep understanding of APIs, distributed systems, backend architecture, and AI/LLM systems.
- Experience analyzing unfamiliar codebases, APIs, protocols, or technical systems.
- Strong debugging skills and systems-thinking abilities.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments with a focus on experimentation.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
Preferred Skills
- Healthcare interoperability experience (FHIR, HL7v2, CDA, CCD, X12/EDI) and familiarity with EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Experience with integration platforms like Mirth, Redox, Rhapsody, or InterSystems.
- Knowledge of MCP, agentic AI architectures, LLM evaluation, prompt engineering, or AI safety research.
- Experience with voice/telephony systems, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and microservices.
- Building AI-powered data extraction, normalization, mapping, or semantic translation systems.

- Several years of experience in reverse engineering, systems analysis, or related fields.
- Proven track record working with healthcare data standards and interoperability solutions.
- Experience analyzing complex, unfamiliar technical systems and APIs.
